Best Time to Visit Bali: Month by Month Guide for 2025

By Avtaj · February 1, 2025 · 7 min read

Bali is a year-round destination — but the timing of your visit dramatically affects your experience, your budget and how crowded the beaches are. Here's exactly what to expect each month.

Quick summary

Best overall: April, May, September
Best for budget: January, February, November
Best weather: June, July, August (but busiest and most expensive)
Avoid if crowds bother you: July, August, Christmas–New Year

Dry season: April to October

Bali's dry season brings sunshine, low humidity and reliable beach weather. This is when the island looks its best — vivid green rice terraces, clear seas and warm evenings. The downside is higher prices and more tourists, peaking in July and August when European and Australian school holidays coincide.

April and May — the sweet spot

April and May offer dry season weather before the main European summer holiday rush begins. Prices for flights and hotels are 20–30% lower than July–August. Beaches are quieter, restaurants easier to get into and the famous Bali sunrise tours involve smaller groups. This is the best overall time to visit for most travellers.

June to August — peak season

Consistently the busiest period. Flights from Australia, Europe and Asia fill up months in advance. Prices peak in late July and early August. Book accommodation and activities well ahead if you must travel during this window. The weather is excellent and the island buzzes with energy, but the crowds at Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud are significant.

September — second best month

The crowds thin out from late August but the weather stays dry. September is arguably the most underrated month to visit Bali. Flight prices drop sharply after the European summer and you get peak season conditions with shoulder season prices.

Wet season: November to March

Rain arrives in November and peaks in January–February. Showers are usually heavy but short — rarely lasting more than a few hours. The island stays green and lush, and this is when Bali is cheapest. Budget travellers who don't mind occasional downpours can save 40–50% on flights and hotels compared to peak season.

April, May and September are the best months to visit Bali. You get dry season weather with lower crowds and cheaper prices compared to the July–August peak. April and May offer the best balance of sunshine, manageable crowds and good flight deals.

Bali's rainy season runs from November to March. January and February see the heaviest rainfall with daily downpours — though these are often short and followed by sunshine. Budget travellers visit during this period for the lowest prices.

July and August are peak season in Bali with the highest visitor numbers, busiest beaches and highest prices for flights and hotels. The Christmas–New Year period (late December to early January) is the second busiest period.

For July–August travel, book 4–6 months ahead. For shoulder season (April–May or September), 2–3 months ahead is sufficient and you'll find better prices. Use Avtaj price alerts to catch drops on your preferred route.
